The Predator Performance people, captained by Jeff Towns, were kind enough to give us a guided tour of their awesome facility.
All I can say is “Wow, you shoulda been there”.
This operation has everything from chassis design and construction, performance
engine building and tuning, body prep and so on. We saw not only the chassis dyno in operation with our 912, but the break-in
cycle of a racing engine on the engine dyno. The people were as gracious as any hosts could be. There is no doubt, everything
about Predator says “this is a first class operation”.
I won't go into the details, but our 912's performance on the dyno reminded
me of the “Excellence” headline that read: When 400 HP isn't enough. I would tell you more, but I don't want to make those
of you with BIG IRON jealous.
After the tour we had lunch at a local Italian restaurant which was really quite good. In
fact the hot sausage was the best I've had in years. On the way home we had an electrical glitch with the 912 which made it
a very long trip. However, with the help of Fred and Judy Sears, we made it home safe and sound. We were actually still
smiling. Just goes to prove once again: It's not just the cars, it's the people.
